Dr Andrés Moya is an associate professor of economics at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. He is the director of Semillas de Apego and a Commissioner for the Lancet Commission on Health, Conflict, and Forced Displacement.
His research focuses on understanding the consequences of conflict and forced displacement and how they thrust people into poverty through economic, psychological, and behavioural channels. Building upon this evidence, he designs and evaluates interventions with the aim of mitigating these consequences and fostering movement out of poverty.
Semillas de Apego is the prime example of this work, a community-based psychosocial programme for caregivers of young children in communities affected by conflict and forced displacement.
