Dr Dana Shai is a researcher in early interpersonal development, with particular interest in non-verbal interactive processes between adults and young children. She also studies parenting, the transition to parenthood, coparental relationships and the child’s early social and emotional development within the family matrix. She developed the Parental Embodied Mentalizing (PEM) approach and assessment and has been leading worldwide collaborative research, delivering international talks and training programmes on PEM for the last decade. She completed her PhD in psychology and has a background in psychoanalytic developmental psychology, dance movement therapy, and philosophy.
